Is it time to embrace the e-book? Radio 4’s Today Programme asked this morning.  I’ve tried e-books on various types of devices – PDA, mobile phone, desktop and notebook computers – and I’m disappointed to report that to date, I’ve failed to finish the whole tale.

For me, that’s about to change…

E-book readers are still expensive and there is no agreement in the industry over a single format for downloads. “It is not an iPod moment for books,” says Julie Howkins.

Maybe that moment is just around the corner.  There’s an application for iPhone 2.0 enabled devices from e-Reader.com that I’ve found to be perfect for e-books.  I’m currently three-quarters of the way through the book I thought I’d try the software out with last week and expect to finish it in the next couple of days. And that’s big deal for someone who hasn’t completed a book since this internet thing really kicked off.

So, what should I read next?

• I can smell the rain. #

• Gone 11pm. I’m forming (bad) late-to-bed-on-a-”school-night” habits again. #
• *OMIGOD* Jawbreaker for iPhone! Why didn’t someone say? There goes any chance of sleep before 1am. #

• Coffee and a Flake for breakfast. Office is like a ghost ship. Everyone’s on holiday. #
• Just received 13 out of office messages back-to-back. #
• Awful afternoon at work. Drizzly weather outside. Want to run, but I can’t be arsed! #
• Had that bloody Barbie Girl song stuck in my head since 9am thanks to someone’s Barbie lunchbox. #
• Yay! Apple are trying to brick my iPod Touch with 2.0.1. #
• Global food price rises in Tesco Salt and Vinegar Crunchy Sticks shocker: 20p rise to 94p for a 150g bag. Waiting for the 3 for £3 offer! #
